Biography
Robert L. Jefferson

Dr. Robert L. Jefferson holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, Arizona, a Master of Music degree from the University of Houston, and Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Maryland.

Dr. Jefferson is experienced as a vocalist, songwriter, recording artist and pianist, and is highly sought after as a speaker, and clinician. He has taught in the Phoenix School Districts, Houston Independent School District, at the University of Houston, and continues to teach as private studio instructor. He has performed with major symphonic orchestras and in concert halls throughout the United States and abroad.

Dr. Jefferson has presented workshops and clinics at Music Educators National Conferences, NASPAAM, churches, colleges and universities. He also served in the United States Air Force Pacific Air Command Ensemble in Tokyo, Japan as well as the Soldiers' Chorus of The United States Army Field Band, Washington, DC.

He is also an advisor and consultant to CEOs and religious leaders in cross-cultural communication, enculturation and outward perspectives, to aid in increasing and broadening the ethnic, racial and age diversity of their congregations, audiences and organizations.

A leading expert in the study of Gospel Music performance, Dr. Jefferson is the author of the most popular and comprehensive How to Play Gospel Music series books in print. Dr. Jefferson is published by Oxford University Press as well as other publishers.
